There is a critical shortage of qualified Design & Technologies educators in Victoria, so it's a great time to consider a career change - whether you're a graduate, a skilled professional or a teacher from another learning area.
Graduate Certificate of Secondary Design & Technologies Education
After many years of advocacy to the Government on the urgent need to address the critical shortage of Design & Technologies teachers, we were delighted when the DoE announced that from 2024, they will be funding a free Grad Cert in Design & Technologies Education for out of field educators. Delivered by Deakin University and supported by DATTA Vic, there will be 55 government school teachers retrained to deliver the Design & Technologies curriculum across the state. UPDATE - OCTOBER 30 2023

Scholarships for Secondary Teaching Degrees
The Victorian government is making it free to study secondary school teaching from next year, in a bid to boost the supply of teachers. Scholarships will be available to all students who enroll in secondary school teaching degrees in 2024 and 2025.

DATTA Vic will be continuing our advocacy work in this area by urging universities to offer Design & Technologies methods onto their teaching degrees.
