  • the double diamond design process
  • assessment & reporting
  • diversifying your student cohort

We'll also explore some of the new additions to the curriculum, including historical developments in engineering, First Nations perspectives and the use of digital tools to develop multimodal records of evidence.

Our presenters;

Juliana Kaya Prpic is the Faculty's Indigenous Engineering Specialist at the University of Melbourne and leads the Indigenous Engineering Community of Practice. In her work, Professor Prpic aims to integrate First Nations perspectives, knowledge, and practices into engineering education and research with the aim of decolonising and Indigenising the engineering curriculum.

Colin Chapman is a leading teacher and curriculum writer who delivers professional learning for DATTA Vic on VCE Systems Engineering. He leads workshops and webinars focusing on various aspects of the subject, including teaching specific units, exam preparation, and utilizing digital tools in the classroom. Colin previously worked with the Academy of Teaching and Leadership as their Technologies Master Teacher

Veena Nair is Head of Technology and STEAM Project Leader at Viewbank College. In 2022, she received the 2022 Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Secondary Schools. Veena has a passion for discovering innovative ways of making STEAM more engaging. Her work has increased the number of students who receive first round offers to study engineering and technology subjects at university, especially young females and students from diverse backgrounds.

Christopher Simpson moved to Australia in 1999 and began a career in Medical Instrumentation, which re-invigorated his passion for electronics and design. Following this, he moved into education as a Systems Engineering teacher.  Chris is now Head of Technology at Girton Grammar School, Bendigo. He feels very passionate about all of the things that Systems Engineering can offer students that are not available anywhere else in school.

Thanks to the Melbourne School of Design for their support for this program.
