| Did you know DATTA Vic has an online forum for teachers of P-10 Design & Technologies, VCE VET and VCE? We hope it's a space that educators can come together virtually to share ideas and discuss issues. There are several topics - PD&T, Systems Engineering, D&T 7-10, D&T P-6, STEM, Events, Technicians & Jobs. You can subscribe to one or all of the forums, and if you are a member, you can also start your own threads. |
Help for out-of-field teachers |
| Are you an out-of-field educator teaching Design & Technologies or Systems Engineering? Is your school struggling to recruit qualified teachers? DATTA Vic runs a masterclass program to support educators from other learning areas to teach D&T. These programs are for members only, and numbers are strictly limited. Please contact us at pl@datta.vic.edu.au for more information on how your school can benefit from these unique programs of out of field educators. Technotes members journal |
Did you know that VIT recognises professional reading as a way to participate in the 20 hours of professional learning necessary to maintain registration? Technotes is the annual journal for DATTA Vic members. Published in term 4 each year, it features a wealth of essential reading for teachers of Design & Technologies subjects - from units of work, designer and engineer case studies, student interviews, resources reviews and much, much more. Members can log in and access all editions HERE. If you are a member and can't log in, contact Laura at pl@datta.vic.edu.au DATTA Vic welcomes contributions to Technotes from all members of our community. If you have an idea for an article, please get in touch with Laura to discuss it. It's a great experience to share your knowledge and experience with your fellow educators, and is a powerful way to demonstrate your leadership abilities to your school community. |

Our commitment to sustainability
| DATTA Vic is committed to supporting the teaching of sustainability in all schools across Victoria. We also strive to ensure that, in our daily operations, we do what we can to reduce our carbon footprint. We are therefore a proud supporter of Fifteen Trees. Established in 2009, the company works with host of independent native nurseries and community groups (such as Landcare, school groups and environmental networks) across Australia to plant trees. To date, they have helped community groups plant over 350,000 trees in all states and territories of Australia. To date, we have planted 75 trees as a way to thank our conference and professional learning program presenters for their contribution. |

About DATTA VicDesign and Technologies is an area of the curriculum that applies the Design Process, and uses tools and materials (with new technological knowledge) to create products, services and environments. DATTA Vic represents Design and Technologies Teachers (including Systems Engineering, STEM, Textiles, Electronics, Auto & Primary teachers) in education throughout Victoria. |
| DATTA Vic is a registered charity that was originally formed in October 1987. Since our humble beginnings as a group of like-minded teachers of Technology we have grown to a membership of around 2000 educators. The DATTA Vic committee consists of volunteer members and we have three part-time staff. We hold annual conferences and facilitate various Professional Learning workshops throughout the year. |
