DATTA Vic delivers a range of special projects designed to support our members and enrich the teaching of Design & Technologies in our schools.

| Industrial Design Students as Technicians in Schools This is one of the ways that DATTA Vic is addressing the critical shortage of Design & Technologies teachers in Victoria. We ask undergraduate students of design and engineering to register their interest in a part time job as a school technician. We then share their information with schools who may be interested in hiring a new tech. Schools get the chance to employ a positive role model for their students with experience in the design process and both traditional and emerging technologies, and the students are introduced to a future career in education. |
Design & Technologies Week Each year, DATTA Vic invites you to celebrate our dynamic, challenging and and essential learning area, where school students learn to be the creative problem solvers of the future! This is the key way we promote Design & Technologies education to the wider community. How your school participates is up to you - teachers can browse our resource bank below for ideas for activities, lessons, excursions and incursions. |

| Partnership Projects DATTA Vic continuously seeks to establish partnerships with a range of organisations for the benefit of our members and learning area. These programs result in professional learning events and resources, such as our Careers in Design & Engineering Toolkits which were created with RMIT and Monash University and our Fantastic Fungi - the Solution to Plastic Waste event with NGV and Fungi Solutions. |
Awards Each year, DATTA Vic celebrates the hard-working, committed and creative Design and Technologies teachers and support staff who work in schools throughout Victoria. This helps us to celebrate and spread the word about the fantastic work that goes on in our classrooms and workshops every day of the school year. You can nominate a colleague or apply yourself for an award, and the categories are The Foster Adem Award for Leadership in Technologies Education, the Secondary Teaching Award, the Primary Teaching Award, the New to Teaching Award and the Community Service Award. |
If you are an organisation who wishes to partner with DATTA Vic on a project engaging with design and engineering teachers, please contact Laura at pl@datta.vic.edu.au. |
