Design & Technologies Week / Melbourne Design Week Challenge!

Thanks to VEX ROBOTICS for their generous support for our Design the World you Want Design & Technologies Week student challenge. |
To celebrate Design & Technologies Week, we have a speculative design challenge for your students! |
| Melbourne Design Week challenges us to design the world we want. So our 2026 challenge will engage your students in speculative design – work which uses design (products, services and environments) to address challenges and opportunities of the future. It's a great way to get your students using the design process and thinking about what preferred futures means to them. |
There are five different challenges available. You can choose the one you like and run it with your whole class, or you could let your students select the one they find the most interesting. Each challenge has a short video, a challenge brief and a student design template. You should download the design temple and provide each student with an editable copy to work on. Once you have completed the challenge, upload your students' work to a folder in a cloud service such as Google Drive, OneDrive, or iCloud and share the folder with Laura as 'can edit' at dattavicweb@gmail.com - and drop us an email at pl@datta.vic.edu.au to let us know your students' work is submitted. Closing date is Friday 26 June. The submitted works will be hosted on a new DESIGN THE WORLD YOU WANT* website to demonstrate that Design & Technologies education is preparing our students to become the creative problem solvers that our future needs! |
