We're looking to purchase a desktop laser for our MS student use & there seem to be quite a new range of options available rather than the old Emblaser 2. Any recommendations about:
- Diode v CO2
- The various models & their reliability, suitability - such as Emblaser Pro (40 or 60W), xTool S1 (40W) or OMTech CO2 (55W)?
Will mainly be used for thinner timber and acrylic.
Any suggestions/tips would be welcomed.

Hi Mike,
we have just pulled the trigger on an XTool S1 system with filter system. When it arrives and we have trialed it I will try to remember to post about it. Bought on sale at $6449 direct from website, including 2 year service warranty. Can also be purchased from Koenig, and we have previously found their service to be excellent, albeit expensive to have them visit Geelong.
We are attempting to replace our big Koenig K0906 (900 x 600) cutting size Koenig laser which won't fit into our new Technology Space. (Let's not get into that conversation..!) We will potentially look to sell the K0906 if this works!
Happy to receive direct emails if you or anyone else wants to stay in touch about this.
Cheers
