Design & Technologies Week Resources

To celebrate Design & Technologies Week, DATTA Vic has published a new resource for each day of the program. They range from simple workshops to engaging units of work. You can download them all from the links below:

Introduction to Design

An interactive set of slides to introduce your students to the Design & Technologies learning area. With videos, tasks and product examples, this will prepare your class to think creatively and critically and be excited to design!

The Elements & Principles of Design – Focus on Indigenous Design

Teach your students the what, why and how of design while introducing them to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and history. Includes a focus on Sydney-based Indigenous designer Nicole Monks and her Walarnu (Boomerang Chair).

Invention Trivia

For Design and Technologies Week, we want to get EVERYONE involved, so you can use this as a trivia challenge to send to other school staff, to families, as well as a fun activity you can run with your classes! It’s designed to spark creative thinking and innovation.

The Design of the Boomerang

This worksheet is a great way to introduce your students to an iconic piece of Indigenous design, as well as using it to inspire new solutions to today’s problems. It shows the amazing impact that First Nations innovation has had on the way we live today.

Design Factor Speed Dating

A fun, interactive activity to introduce your students to the language of design and boost their team work and communication skills.
