PICAXE Micro-controller Next Step. Advanced training. Cost includes $100 for Materials. Some knowledge of Picaxe required.

Covering Key Knowledge points from Systems Engineering Study Design Unit 4:

• Symbolic representation related to the operation of integrated controlled systems;
• Operation of appropriate subsystem elements and control devices, including micro-controllers;
• Use of appropriate technological principles associated with integrated systems;
• Technological principles associated with the components/elements of control devices
  

Teacher outcomes include practical examples and working models of Motor Control (forward, reverse, left and right); Bumper control; infrared remote control and Environmental Sensing (temperature and servo motor displaying the temperature)

Pro Desktop. Two day training in using Pro Desktop.

ProDesktop is a high quality 3D CAD software specifically produced for schools. The two day workshop includes a 300 site licence to teachers free of charge through the Design & Technology in Schools Program. ProDesktop is very powerful, relatively easy to use and produces both engineering drawings and fully rendered images.

ProEngineer is the industrial engineering design software used by 550,000 commercial users and 1250 universities worldwide. Once trained, teachers receive the software CD?s and a licence for ProEngineer allowing installation on 300 school computers. In addition ProEngineer is also able to be given to students for installation on home computers. There is no ongoing licence fee ? upgrades are provided at no additional cost. Teachers undertaking the training also receive a considerable amount of curriculum support materials an access to a worldwide ProEngineer Teacher?s Portal. Material on the portal is being upgraded continually.

This workshop is for year 10 and year 11 students looking ahead and beginning to think about Design & Technology next year. It is an opportunity for students to get a head start on 2010.
